As a group of schools we have participated in several Comenius and Erasmus+ projects together, some of them since 1998. Through this we have developed extremely successful collaborative working practices, most recently in our current multilateral Erasmus+ project “SEE – Skilled European Entrepreneurs”. Although each school is responsible for organizing and hosting one conference in the course of the project, all schools will share ideas, develop creative approaches to project work and participate in discussions to ensure the project’s quality, documentation and dissemination. There has been a steady and trusting relationship between our schools that secures effective collaboration.

 

Tolworth School for Girls is strong in pastoral support and fostering good relationships between students and staff. The school places much emphasis on higher education and career guidance delivered through careers counselling programmes and supporting students in making their post-eighteen choices. The school’s Erasmus+ Team has great leadership potential, shows creativity and organizational talent and its long tradition of loyal partnership have made them valuable and enriching partners. Its support staff (IT expert, librarian) have made a valuable contribution in previous projects providing expert knowledge and assistance.

 

RSG 't Rijks offers general secondary education to a variety of students from different (ethnic) backgrounds at three different levels It uses  a modern approach towards developing individual talents. There are special options like culture classes, sports classes, bilingual (TTO) classes and science classes for students with specific interests and skills. The school is very experienced in initiating- and implementing international projects and open to sharing practices and ideas. In the course of previous international projects RSG 't Rijks  invited old and new partner schools to participate in this and other international projects. In this way and by initiating new Erasmus+ projects RSG 't Rijks has strongly influenced the international approach of its partners. RSG 't Rijks will be responsible for the project coordination and organisation ensuring continuity, communication and a successful distribution of work.

 

Liceo Scientifico Statale Galileo Galilei provides secondary education with special focus on the European dimension for students from the city and surrounding towns with a varied social background with an increasing number of families struggling with the effects of the dramatic economic crisis. The school offers Esabac with Baccalaureat, CLIL in English and a variety of extra-curricular activities, which focus on an interdisciplinary approach. The school has always had an international interest with emphasis on foreign language learning and Information Technology. Galilei’s Erasmus+ Team has been a very supportive and loyal partner in several Comenius and Erasmus+ Projects. 

 

Fördegymnasium is a secondary school in a primarily middle class area in Flensburg. The school has many students from rural areas. The number of students with migrant backgrounds, often Eastern European and more recently because of the Middle East crisis Arabian, is increasing. Because of its location at the Danish border Flensburg has become a regional centre for refugees on their way to the Scandinavian countries. Soon children of refugees will be attending Fördegymnasium.

Fördegymnasium staff gained expertise concerning the empowerment of students and their understanding of democratic values and processes in a previous Comenius project called "The European Student Voice" (2007-09).

 

Jesuites Gracia-Col·legi Kostka is a general primary and secondary school which is part of a Catholic network of regional social and teaching centres with an interest in offering support to an increasing number of broken-up families and unemployed parents. Immigrant children from neighbouring areas also enter the centre for tutorial supervision and pastoral care. The school has actively participated in a number of EU funded projects since 2001.

We will benefit from Kostka’s Erasmus+ team due to their strong moral leadership qualities, their inspirational ideas and spiritual approaches.

 

European Gymnasium Bertha-von-Suttner provides secondary education with a special focus on the European dimension and on an interdisciplinary approach (MINT school). The school offers bilingual education (CLIL) in English and a variety of extra-curricular activities focusing on an interdisciplinary approach, European citizenship and intercultural competence.

The school’s Erasmus+ Team has gained experience in several Comenius, Erasmus+ projects and Model United Nations Conferences (MUN) and is involved in the school’s internationalization and modernization processes. Thus, creativity, innovation, experience and expertise have evolved that may be used to push the project(s) forward, for example, by developing creative project ideas and plans.

 

Carlshojdsskolan is a school that hosts pupils from the age of 6 to 16 and we have an integrated section for children with special needs. Our school has about 440 students and is situated close to forest and nature which gives us many opportunities for outdoor education. At the secondary unit we have four overnight outdoor trips where the students experience outdoor cooking, mountain climbing, canoeing and sleeping in tents. The amount of students is low enough for all students to be seen and acknowledged, and our aim is that students feel that the school is a safe, sound and supporting environment for learning and growing. The teachers have a high level of competence and we work hard to be in the frontline when it comes to digital competence and 21st Century skills. Teachers have high expectations of their students and we want them to learn for life, not for grades. And we have over the years had good feedback from teachers at upper secondary schools in Umeå, stating that our students do very well indeed. We are indeed very proud of our school and our students here.
